Mark Hamill committed to ‘not an easy job’ so ‘Star Wars’ can continue expanding its horizons

And we're not talking about his role in 'The Last Jedi,' either.

Barring a brief Order 66-related hiatus of the tradition, the Jedi arts have been passed down from master to padawan for years upon years. While one particular recent training session may not be canonical, or even make all that much sense in terms of timeline, it’s still very entertaining all the same.

In a thoroughly amusing promotional clip for freshly-released Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the franchise’s O.G. jedi Mark Hamill shows the actor behind the new video game’s protagonist, Cameron Monaghan, the ways of the force. Of course, this involved Hamill throwing popcorn at his ‘padawan,’ along with a gentle reminder from the incumbent Jedi master that he doesn’t actually wield the force.

Hamill is also seen critiquing Monaghan’s grip on the lightsaber, telling him ‘he’s not playing baseball.’ The clip rounds out with some dual-lightsaber envy from Hamill, who of course was never granted the opportunity to wield two of the iconic weapons at once in the original trilogy. The clip then flips the script and sees Monaghan coaching Hamill on how to play the video game.

The hotly anticipated game hasn’t quite stuck the most flawless of landings, being weighed down by some technical issues affecting its performance. Consequently, it’s being given some mixed reviews, with many outlets still opting to look at the bigger picture in hopes that these initial struggles will be addressed in a patch. However, we found it difficult to be as forgiving of the game’s launch dramas.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is currently rolling out across the globe for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
