After his success in Everything Everywhere All At Once, there were calls to get freshly-minted Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan to return to the Indiana Jones, either as a returning character or star in a Short Round solo project. Now, the actor has come out to reveal his future in this iconic adventure film franchise.

Quan spoke with ET during his appearance at the Time 100 Gala. The star was asked if he would appear in the upcoming fifth installment, but was disappointingly honest with his response after confirming that he wasn’t going to appear in the film.

“I want to say [yes], but no. Here’s the thing. I don’t want to disappoint the fans.”

Despite his confirmation that he wasn’t going to appear as Short Round in the fifth installment, the actor reminisced about the time when he reunited with Harrison Ford after 38 years. Quan talked about how special it was to meet the icon once more, and that he looked forward to seeing his old co-star on the big screen once Dial of Destiny comes out.

“I’ve joked about it all the time, but reuniting with Harrison after 38 years, that was very special. Of all the years, to have him present the Best Picture Award, at this year’s Academy Awards, that was something. That will always be one of the most memorable nights of my life. And I can’t wait to see him don the fedora again, and crack that that whip one more time. I will be first in line to watch it.”

While Quan might not be appearing in the upcoming Indiana Jones adventure, he is set to star in season two of Loki and American Born Chinese with his Everything, Everywhere co-star Michelle Yeoh. Quan did point out after his Oscar win that he hopes his newfound success wouldn’t be short-lived. Hopefully, he’ll star in more projects in the future, but for now, it’s a shame that he isn’t appearing in the upcoming legacy follow-up.
