Despite being formally charged following the incident that led to his arrest over the weekend, Jonathan Majors‘ legal team have remained adamant that their client has done nothing wrong, and they instantly vowed to prove his innocence.
However, as soon as the news was made public, widespread calls to have the actor formally removed as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Kang the Conqueror began to gain traction, while Ezra Miller’s highly-publicized legal troubles were also brought into the conversation.
Marvel and Disney have so far refused any and all requests for an official comment, but that hasn’t dampened the confidence of Majors’ reps. In fact, defense litigator Priya Chaudhry shared a new statement with The Direct where it was made clear in no uncertain terms that her client is destined to emerge from the controversy unscathed.
“Mr. Majors completely denies assaulting the woman. Around 11 a.m. on March 25, 2023, Jonathan Majors called 911 out of concern for the woman’s mental health. The police arrived with the paramedics, as is standard procedure, and arrested Mr. Majors due to an NYPD protocol requiring arrest in certain circumstances.
On that same day, only 7 and 9 hours later, the woman sent text messages to Mr. Majors admitting that she was the one who used physical force against him. She also disavowed any allegations that he had done anything to her and confirmed that Mr. Majors called 911 because of her mental condition. These are those messages, redacting the woman’s name for her privacy.”
Not only that, but a text message chain between Majors and his girlfriend was also revealed, even if there’s an element of making such personal things widely available coming off as a “see, we told you so” moment rather than some sort of groundbreaking smoking gun destined to tip the scales back in the 33 year-old’s favor.
Either way, the story is far from over, but it could affect Majors’ long-term prospects moving forward in one way or another regardless of whether or not he’s proven innocent or guilty, because Hollywood tends to have a long memory when it comes to legal indiscretions.
