Earlier this year, DC Studios co-head James Gunn claimed that he would be stepping back from the constant debunking of rumors surrounding the incoming DC Universe on Twitter, be it casting whispers or bogus Superman: Legacy plot beats. We’re sure it’s no easy task for the DC gaffer to commit to; beyond the irritation that no doubt comes from seeing misinformation about your project floating around, we should all know by now how much he loves to be present on his socials.
With respect to that, it seems he’s found a loophole; he may have sworn to stop his debunking duties on Twitter, but he never said anything about Bluesky.
Indeed, it looks like Gunn is now the proud owner of a Bluesky account, a “Twitter-like” platform/service launched in 2021, intended to combine decentralized computing with a social media service (i.e. the software is not controlled by one, remote location, but rather each individual device using the software).
At the moment, Bluesky is only available as an invite-only beta, so we imagine Gunn is enjoying a nice moment of peace and quiet from the relentless DC inquiries. Back on Twitter, meanwhile, it looks like the poor man can’t even make a completely unrelated tweet without having someone shove such questions in his face.
Once Bluesky opens up to the public, we’re sure it will only be a matter of time before Gunn’s mentions blow up to an incomprehensible degree every other minute, just as nature intended. For now, the many mysteries of Superman: Legacy and other DCU projects can enjoy some tranquil alone time in the land of Bluesky.
