‘I’ve started to believe’: Stephen King is cautiously optimistic a much-debated potential future is not far-fetched anymore

Dreams do come true sometimes, after all.

Though Stephen King is one extraordinary storyteller and is blessed with a magical imagination, he hadn’t been very confident about a potential future ever becoming real – former U.S. president Donald Trump finally landing in jail.

King has rarely shied away from exactly what he thinks about the Home Alone 2 alum and has even tangled with the 2024 election candidate’s loyal followers. But Trump remains a powerful man and despite an ever-growing list of his alleged crimes, he is still free to contest the presidential election and point fingers at anyone whose existence makes his difficult. So, the prospect of Trump getting arrested and being sent to prison has remained a topic even his most ardent detractors can’t confidently predict.

But the twice-impeached former POTUS was recently indicted again — he was first indicted back in March and faced 34 felony charges of falsifying business records. Now, that is just the tip of the giant iceberg that is his legal troubles, but we were talking about getting indicted and this time, he has been charged with at least seven counts in relation to mishandling classified documents. And as the American legal system doesn’t seem inclined to let Trump off the hook even as he and his gullible followers keep crying wolf, King is now allowing himself to hope that the former president — who will be facing federal charges on June 13 — might actually get what’s coming to him.

This is not the first time when King has addressed the news — he has already had his celebrations when he shot down Dan Bongino for lamenting Trump’s indictment — it’s just that the glee is now accompanied by him treading the possibility that maybe, just maybe, justice means squat in the era we live in.
