It’s been around a year since we saw Homelander (Antony Starr) and Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) face off on-screen. Since The Boys broke for another season — with Soldier Boy once more locked inside a cryogenic chamber under Grace Mallory’s (Laila Robins) supervision — fans have been interested to know the fate of the rest of the characters, especially after they undertook the daring journey to betray and take down Homelander himself.

Saying so, it would be appropriate to say at this point that The Boys’ has established a giant fan base eagerly waiting for season four to drop on screen as soon as possible or at least receive an update about the series’ filming status.

So, what happens now that Soldier Boy has been placed back on ice? Most significantly, when do we get to see the characters return?

Last we heard, filming for season four began in August 2022 and was supposed to be completed by March 2023. Much to everyone’s delight, then, showrunners have apparently kept their promise, with Antony Starr confirming that filming has wrapped (for him, at least).

Starr took to Twitter and confirmed the completion of filming, additionally congratulating the whole team with: “Season four done and dusted for this blonde bozo. Congrats to the entire team xo”.

With Homelander himself spreading the word regarding a significant development in the show’s production, it can be stated with certainty that fans will likely only have to wait a few months for further developments to come thick and fast.
