One of General Hospital‘s youngest stars may never return to the show, following news of a DUI incident.
24-year-old Haley Pullos has been playing Molly Lansing-Davis for more than a decade now, first stepping into the role in 2009 and serving as a popular recurring character for the following 14 years. Her tenure at General Hospital may be officially over, however, following news that Pullos was involved in a car accident involving a DUI, or “driving under the influence.” Her replacement on the show, Holiday Mia Kriegel, is already stepping in to fill her shoes, and — while the switch-up is currently considered temporary — how Pullos fares in an upcoming lawsuit will likely determine her General Hospital fate.
Haley Pullos DUI charges
Pullos is facing DUI charges following a car crash back in April that left one person seriously injured. Pullos herself suffered minor injuries, but the impact between her car and the vehicle belonging to one Courtney Wilder was enough to require firefighters to rescue Pullos from her vehicle. Wilder, who was driving the other car, required “extensive surgery and treatment” in the wake of the accident, according to the Los Angeles Times, and continues to require treatment for her injuries.
Pullos was, according to a lawsuit being filed against her, intoxicated at the time of the accident. According to reports, Pullos drove the wrong way up an off-ramp on April 29, nearly hitting one car before slamming into Wilder, whose car was totaled by the impact. Following her rescue by firefighters, Pullos was reportedly belligerent, attempting to strike a firefighter in the ambulance and later requiring sedation at the hospital after displaying a similar hostility with healthcare workers.
Pullos was later arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence, and — upon inspection — edibles and mini bottles of tequila were found in her vehicle. She is now being charged with “one felony count of DUI causing injury, one felony count of driving with a .08 BAC or higher, and one misdemeanor count of hit-and-run,” according to TMZ. The case heads to a preliminary hearing in July.
Why is Haley Pullos being sued?
On top of potentially losing her role at General Hospital and facing DUI charges, Pullos is also being sued by Wilder, the woman she collided with in late April. The lawsuit against her states that “Haley Pullos acted maliciously and without any regard for the safety of others,” and alleges that Wilder’s car was totaled in the collision. It includes details about Wilder’s path to recovery and references her “serious, life-threatening” injuries.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is still reviewing Pullos’ case, but this could be a massively damaging moment in the young star’s career. Her tenure at General Hospital may well be over, but that’s only the beginning of her troubles as the preliminary hearing for her felony charges inches closer.
