Elizabeth Olsen graciously and confusedly accepts being the internet’s mother

She may not entirely get it, but she's on board.

While he seems to be understandably a little more begrudging about the moniker nowadays, following his dominant start to 2023 with The Last of Us and The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal has forever and always secured his title as the “daddy of the internet.” So, since that’s sorted, next up on the agenda is the internet’s mom, and Pascal’s co-presenter at this year’s Oscars, Elizabeth Olsen, has emerged as a clear frontrunner.

The Scarlet Witch herself was recently asked how she felt about having motherhood over the entire world wide web thrust upon her. While she wasn’t quite in touch with the meme-ry of the moniker, perhaps even a little confused by the prospect, she accepted the role with grace. She tells ET with a laugh:

“I really don’t get it. My friends have tried to explain to me that it’s, like, a good thing? I don’t know. Like, mothers are great, I guess, but I don’t know. It makes me feel old. Because I think the people that are saying it must be young? Like, I’m not sure how I feel about it.”

Olsen went on to chat about and share high praise for her “co-parent,” Pedro Pascal – telling the publication she has been friends with The Mandalorian star for some time, and would love to appear on-screen alongside him at some point down the line. The MCU star addressed the matter of her “internet’s mom” title on the red carpet for her upcoming HBO series Love & Death, a crime drama miniseries in which she stars as Candy Montgomery.

Being the internet’s mom and all, you can bet that Olsen’s “children” will leap to her defense in the blink of an eye, which is exactly what happened recently after Jake Gylenhall accidentally insulted her during his appearance on Hot Ones. As you can expect, it wasn’t exactly pretty.

As for whether or not Olsen will be returning to her fan-favorite role as Wanda Maximoff in the MCU anytime soon, that remains up in the air. All we know for certain at the moment is that one of the dream projects she could be involved with remains off the table.
