In today’s entertainment industry, we mostly have to contend with mediocre projects that, more than anything else, bore us with their insipid narratives and uninspired art directions. Very rarely do we come across a product so utterly abominable that it leaves most people dumbfounded, but that’s exactly what we’re dealing with when talking about Daedalic’s The Lord of the Rings: Gollum game, which came out yesterday to extremely negative reviews from critics and customers alike.

Gollum will now go down in history as one of the worst games ever made, but who knew that self-proclaimed success guru Andrew Tate was actually the inspiration behind the titular character’s design?

Well, as they say, once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

The right image was taken when Tate got released from jail after three months by Romanian authorities. Now that it’s been pointed out, we can’t help but notice all the similarities between the two, though fans would still insist that the comparison is a little insulting to Gollum.

And why on Earth hasn’t he shaved his head yet? Is that yet another way of breaking the system and escaping the Matrix? Next, you’ll see him ranting about filthy little Hobbitses.

Now, enough about Andrew Tate. Gamers are wisely avoiding Gollum and all the controversy surrounding it at the moment, lest they have nightmares about this new video game interpretation of the Middle-earth antagonist. I know Smeagol is supposed to be wretchedly hard on the eyes, but we can all agree this design slights even him.

Which, of course, begs another question that the entire gaming world is unanimously asking: “What in the world were the developers thinking?”
