Warner Bros. will be bringing the supernatural horror film The Apparition to Blu-Ray later this month.
I think it’s safe to say that The Apparition is one of the biggest flops of the year. Not just financially, but also critically and by way of the general audience. I’m still searching for a person that has something good to say about the horror flick that was virtually abandoned on the week of release, with WB dropping it in something like 1,000 screens nationwide. The trailer promised another forgettable supernatural affair, but the result was even more disastrous to some.
Our very own Matt Donato had this to say about the film in his review:
Every faux pas The Apparition commits stems from a general atmosphere lacking any vibrant heartbeat, creating characters and conflicts which are tragically birthed on life support.
I can’t completely disagree with him, but I actually enjoyed the atmosphere and more importantly the electro-styled soundtrack that accompanied each and every scene. I thought the film was certainly a misfire, but something with slight direction and purpose. I’m guessing that most of my enjoyment came from having read a million negative reviews. Sometimes going in with the lowest of expectations can result in something that isn’t so bad.
Still, the film failed to make any money, which is why it’s being quickly rushed to home video later this month.
The film will be presented in a Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack, with no confirmed bonus content, aside from the UltraViolet digital copy.
The Apparition streets on November 27th, 2012.
