Fox has announced the latest McG romantic action film, This Means War, for Blu-Ray in May. The film stars Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.
Leave it to Charlie’s Angles director McG to bring something as generic and dumb sounding as This Means War to the big screen. To his credit, the film isn’t actually nearly as bad as the plot sounds. It’s actually kind of enjoyable, mostly due to the chemistry between Tom Hardy and Chris Pine and rarely because of Reese Witherspoon, who actually plays a pretty nasty individual in the film.
This Means War is currently still playing in theaters, which is respectable considering it opened with moderate success in a stuffy part of the year. It did stir up some trouble when the original R-rated cut got appealed for the more family-friendly PG-13 rating.
Our very own Kristal Cooper had this to say about the film in her review.
In a turn of events that utterly defies the terrible trailer that’s been making the rounds for the last few months, This Means War actually proves to be an agreeably dim-witted combo of testosterone-fuelled action and an estrogen-friendly love story.
The Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. In addition to two cuts of the film, the disc will come with the following bonus material:
- Commentary by director McG
- Alternate endings with optional commentary
- Deleted scenes with optional commentary
- Alternative opening concept: Previz with optional commentary
- Bachelorette Party feature
- Uncensored gag reel
- Theatrical Trailer
This Means War will be hitting Blu-Ray on May 22nd, 2012.
