One of the year’s most captivating thrillers is coming to Blu-Ray early next year. David Fincher’s Gone Girl, adapted from the bestseller by Gillian Flynn, will be hitting shelves January 13.
Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike star in the dark, twisted tale of Nick Dunne (Affleck), a man searching for his missing wife (Pike). As the media and police begin to suspect him of orchestrating her disappearance, Nick realizes that nothing is as it seems – but can he find his wife before he’s branded a killer? Its thrilling story aside, Gone Girl boasts some atmospheric direction from Fincher and a pulse-pounding score from Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.
The Blu-Ray will come fully outfitted with a 1080p transfer, a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track and two intriguing bonus features: an audio commentary from Fincher as well as a collectible Amazing Amy: Tattle Tale Book.
In his four-star review of Gone Girl, We Got This Covered’s own Jordan Adler wrote that the film was a “brilliantly directed, thrillingly nasty piece of psychologically-riveting pulp,” calling it “hypnotic and taut.” Though it’s certainly not a cutesy or easy watch, Gone Girl is one of the year’s best thrillers. Sadly, it won’t be out in time for Christmas, but 20th Century Fox is betting we’ll want to ring in the new year by picking it up on Blu-Ray.
