Summit Entertainment has announced the 3D sci-fi thriller The Darkest Hour for Blu-Ray in April. The film stars Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby and Max Minghella.
If there’s one film that failed to connect with audience this past Christmas season, it would easily be The Darkest Hour. The film opened on Christmas Day and still struggled making any money. It closed off the weekend with a tiny $5 million bucks, which makes it one of the worst 3D films ever to get a wide release. Success or not isn’t even the point, because the film was horrible. I have yet to meet a single person that actually enjoyed the film.
I’m not sure what Emile Hirsch was thinking when he signed onto a film directed by Chris Gorak (previously directed the borefest known asĀ Right at Your Door). The special effects were decent, but the story was non-existent and the 3D was another pointless attempt and making some extra cash. Avoid The Darkest Hour if value your time.
The Blu-Ray will be presented in 1080p and you have the option of buying the film in 2D or 3D. Both packages will come with the following bonus content:
- Commentary with Chris Gorak
- All new short film The Darkest Hour: Survivors
- The Darkest Hour: Visualizing an Invasion featurette
- Deleted/extended scenes
The Darkest Hour will street on April 10th, 2012.
