Yesterday came big biopic news from the American Film Market. We heard that Jessica Chastain would star as Princess Diana in a biopic titled, Caught In Flight.
Now it seems there is more biopic news from The American Film Market, and this time it centres on the Queen of period pieces, Keira Knightley. Apparently, Knightley will play Effie Gray in a biopic titled Untouched, which will be directed by Brazilian filmmaker Andrucha Waddington.
The film will follow “the real-life love affair between this beautiful young woman, trapped in a ‘loveless,’ unconsummated marriage to Brit art critic John Ruskin, and his protege, pre-Raphelite painter John Everett Millais.”
The role isn’t much of a stretch for Knightley, whose growing filmography seems to include quite a few period pieces, with movies like The Duchess and Pride and Prejudice on her resume.
This of course is the second Effie Grey biopic in the works. Effie is the other one and it is set to star Dakota Fanning, Emma Thompson (who also penned the screenplay), Greg Wise, Tom Sturridge, Derek Jacobi, Julie Walters, and Edward Fox.
It’s unclear when Untouched will get underway, but besides Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina which Knightley is currently shooting, her schedule seems to be free, which suggests a shoot some time in 2012.
