We got some hugely exciting news this past weekend as “Crisis on Infinite Earths” was confirmed to feature veteran voice actor Kevin Conroy’s first on-screen appearance as Bruce Wayne. The Batman: The Animated Series star is set to play an older version of the Dark Knight. While this is undoubtedly awesome, it’d be for the best if fans don’t expect to see a whole lot of Conroy in the crossover, as reports point to him only having a cameo.
We Got This Covered has been informed by our sources – the same ones who told us Michael Rosenbaum is returning for “Crisis,” which has now been confirmed – that the future Batman that Conroy is playing will only have a brief role in the event. Our sources also tell us that Conroy is playing the Kingdom Come version of Batman, alongside Brandon Routh who’s turning up as the KC Superman as well. We haven’t had this confirmed, mind you, but we can perhaps infer, then, that Routh will only suit up as the Man of Steel again for a small role, too.
We previously reported that there would be another iteration of Batman appearing in “Crisis,” alongside Conroy’s. While the veteran actor isn’t expected to don the cape and cowl, this second Batman will, though we don’t currently know who’ll be playing the other Dark Knight. Whoever it is, though, the same thing goes for this mystery Bat, as we’re told both Batmen will only have a cameo in the crossover event.
From what we’ve heard, the different Dark Knights will show up as the heroes travel from Earth to Earth as they try to stop the Anti-Monitor (LaMonica Garrett). This should allow for all those other guest spots that are on the way, including Cress Williams’ Black Lightning, Burt Ward’s older Robin and, fingers crossed, Tom Welling’s Supes and Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman to boot.
“Crisis on Infinite Earths” will unfold over five episodes across all five Arrowverse shows and it kicks off on The CW from December 8th and ends on January 14th.
