In an Instagram post, Rob Liefeld, one of Deadpool’s creators, ran the idea past Dwayne Johnson, saying:

Dearest @therock based on reports of outstanding chemistry between you and a familiar friend, I believe the next logical step is for you to join the Marvel Universe as Garrison Kane in a future Deadpool installment. You’re a natural and Kane is already celebrated by millions of comics fans who have thrilled to his adventures since I first introduced him in X-Force #2! Your pal, Rob!

The chemistry he speaks of is between Johnson and Ryan Reynolds, who’s co-starring with him in Hobbs & Shaw, in theaters now. But honestly, who on Earth wouldn’t get along with the Merc With a Mouth? Knowing that The Rock is clicking with Reynolds in the latest Fast & Furious installment though makes us want to go see this even more.

Johnson, of course, being as eager as he is to join the MCU, hit Liefeld up on Twitter with a fanboy-pleasing response, saying:

Garrison Kane, for those unfamiliar with the name, first appeared in the 1991 comic X-Force #2. He was a former member of Cable’s mercenary team who loses his limbs during a battle of some sort. The Weapon X program, the same one who created Deadpool, then gave him cybernetic replacements.

Now, it all depends on how serious Liefeld is about signing Johnson up, but we might actually see The Rock in pieces. Literally. You’d think he would have a clause against something like that in his contract, but apparently not.

As for Reynolds, he can be seen as a CIA agent in Hobbs & Shaw who has some history with Johnson’s Hobbs. He’s also just one individual on a long list of celebs who’ve played a role in both the DC and Marvel universes and it seems that soon, Johnson might be the next entry. If so, he’d be joining Chris Evans and Ben Affleck, along with new inductees from this year’s Shazam, Zachary Levi and Djimon Hounsou.
