A Pinocchio prequel script entitled The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto has been snatched up by Fox, to be directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel).
The script was written by Michael Vukadinovich, who has previously written super indie films, such as Pete & Goat, which currently has the likes of Anton Yelchin and Amanda Seyfried attached.
Real Steel is dominating the box office right now, remaining in first place for two weekends in a row, grossing $51.7 million. While it makes sense that director Levy would get such a strange script as a prequel to the equally classic and bone-chilling Pinocchio, it seems strange that such a film is even in production.
But hey – the 1940 film Pinocchio is still being watched and feared by little boys and girls all over the country, despite its ancient release date, so I think it’s fair to say that it deserves a prequel.
What do you think? Are you prepared for The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto, the prequel to Pinocchio?
