2019 is shaping up to be a banner year for the Star Wars franchise, both on and off screen.

Not only do we have The Mandalorian and The Rise of Skywalker coming down the pike, but Disney and Lucasfilm continue to grow and expand this most beloved franchise with Snoke-centric comics and entire theme parks dedicated to that famous far-away galaxy.

But for many, it’s really The Rise of Skywalker that stands tall as the biggest attraction of them all, and it’ll be with us in December. We’ve already glimpsed a teaser for J.J. Abrams’ finale, but one can’t help but wonder: when will the full trailer for Episode IX arrive? SDCC is practically out of the question, as the Mouse House currently has nothing booked for Hall H, indicating that next month’s D23 event in Anaheim may well host the official unveiling of The Rise of Skywalker‘s full trailer.

If that is indeed the case, it gives Disney a four-month lead time to really push The Rise of Skywalker – not that a movie with ‘Star Wars‘ on the masthead needs much of a push, but still – and effectively bring about the end of Lucasfilm’s storied saga.

It’s been one of rebellions and swashbuckling smugglers, and we’ve enjoyed every minute. As a matter of fact, J.J. Abrams and co-writer Chris Terrio reportedly plan to include Easter eggs and subtle nods to all three trilogies – Original, Prequel, Sequel – within Episode IX, and while it may never reach the dizzying heights of Avengers: Endgame when it comes to fan service, we’re still intrigued to see how Abrams and Terrio close the book.

We’ll find out on December 20th, of course, when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled for release. D23, on the other hand, is due to kick off on August 23rd, so keep one ear to the ground…
