Avengers: Endgame is currently closing out its incredible run in theaters, and while the movie’s box office momentum has slowed down quite a bit by this point, the Avengers: Infinity War sequel continues to inch closer and closer to grabbing Avatar’s record.
It was only a few weeks ago that Endgame passed Titanic to become the second highest grossing movie ever, and in the time since, it’s now managed to push its global total up to $2.743 billion. This puts Endgame pretty darn close to Avatar’s figure of $2.788 billion. And while it may seem like the film might just miss out on taking the crown, we’re now hearing that the blockbuster is set for a theatrical re-release in the hopes of pushing it ahead of James Cameron’s sci-fi epic.
According to ComicBook.com, Marvel will be re-releasing Avengers: Endgame into theaters next weekend, with Kevin Feige confirming the news by saying the following:
“We are doing that. I don’t know if it’s been announced. And I don’t know how much… Yeah, we’re doing it next weekend.”
Perhaps the best part about this is that not only is Endgame heading back to theaters, but it’ll be doing so with brand new scenes that weren’t included the first time around. From what we understand, there’ll be deleted footage that didn’t make it into the initial cut and also a few surprises after the credits. What those will be, we can’t say for sure, but this is hugely exciting news regardless.
Tell us, though, will you be checking out Avengers: Endgame in theaters again once it gets re-released? And what are you hoping to see in the deleted footage? As always, be sure to drop us a comment down below with your thoughts.
