Keanu Reeves Says He’s Always Wanted To Play Wolverine

Despite the underwhelming performance of X-Men: Dark Phoenix this weekend, there's been a lot of talk recently about who the next Wolverine is going to be. We recently found out that First Class director Matthew Vaughn wanted Tom Hardy for the role. But one actor has been particularly vocal about his desire to don some spike knuckles. And that’s action icon Keanu Reeves.

The Matrix star has been doing a lot of press recently for his latest film, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, as well as his upcoming part in Toy Story 4. And when a recent puppy-playing interview with BuzzFeed asked which superhero he’d want to play in either the Marvel or DC universe, the answer trailed back to Reeves’ childhood.

“I don’t know,” Reeves said. “When I was a kid, I always wanted to play Wolverine. So Wolverine.”

In terms of stunts, the performer’s capabilities have become ever popular since the first John Wick movie was released in 2014. And with each passing film, the action gets turned up, the body count gets higher, and Reeves shows fewer and fewer signs of slowing down. So, at the very least, the action in a Keanu Wolverine flick would be badass.

But the dramatic elements we’ve come to expect from the character – especially after Hugh Jackman’s final performance in the swan song Logan – may prove to be more difficult for the actor, who’s led several panned performances.

What say you, though? Would you like to see Reeves play Wolverine? Perhaps watching Parabellum in theaters would help shape your answer. But if your mind’s set now, let us know what you think in the comment section below.
