Fantastic Four Star Rumored To Play Scarecrow In The Batman

It seems Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight - assuming the actor passes Warner Bros.' rigorous casting process - will have his work cut out for him in Matt Reeves' The Batman as word has it that the movie will see the hero come up against six of the most dangerous foes in Batman's rogues gallery. So far, we know that Penguin, Catwoman and likely the Riddler will be up to something nefarious in Gotham City. But what about the other three villains?

Well, The BYO Show YouTube Channel may have revealed two more foes for the Bat to face. According to them, they were informed Pattison was the top choice back in January and now they’re sharing the rest of the info they heard at the time. This includes that Bane and Scarecrow could also appear in The Batman. And they might just know who’s playing them, too.

As we’ve reported previously, Luke Cage star Theo Rossi is apparently the top choice to portray Bane and as for Scarecrow, BYO reports that Reeves is looking at Toby Kebbell to don Jonathan Crane’s fear-inducing mask in his film. The British actor will be familiar to superhero movie fans for his turn as Victor Von Doom in Josh Trank’s 2015 Fantastic Four reboot.

I know what you’re thinking – “urgh, don’t remind me of that travesty.” But the failed FF remake did have a great cast, with Michael B. Jordan going on to make up for his Human Torch as Killmonger in Black Panther. There’s every chance Kebbell could do something similar as Scarecrow, too.

Furthermore, what makes this rumor plausible is that Kebbell previously worked with Reeves on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. You won’t remember his face from the 2014 sequel, however, as he provided the motion-capture for Koba, the human-hating ape villain of the movie. While it makes sense that the filmmaker would fill his Gotham City with trusted collaborators, we’d best take this casting with a pinch of salt right now.

In any case, The Batman is set to swoop into cinemas on June 25th, 2021, so we should get some concrete casting news soon enough.
