New Child’s Play Poster Sees Chucky Murder Yet Another Toy Story Character

A new poster for Child's Play shows yet another murder of a Toy Story character at the hands of everyone's favorite serial killer doll.

Halloween might be a ways off, but next month is shaping up to be a real treat for horror fans. Plenty of studios have been keen on bringing old and long-forgotten franchises back from the dead, and Orion Pictures is looking to do something similar by releasing Child’s Play, a remake and reboot of the 1988 film of the same name.

With director Lars Klevberg and producers Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg at the helm, this new entry is looking to bring a modern twist to the franchise. Plot details are scarce right now, but it seems like Chucky – the series’ children’s toy turned serial killer – will be an out-of-control robot doll, as opposed to the possessed version seen in the original run of films.

Leading up to its release, Orion Pictures has been poking fun at other toy-centric movies, and their latest poster is no exception. As you can see below, a recent one-sheet shows Chucky and a dismantled toy. Observant viewers will quickly realize that the murderous doll is propping up the lower half of Slinky, the hybrid spring/dog from Pixar’s Toy Story series. Worse yet, the iconic character’s remains are being roasted over an open flame, bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase “hot dog.”

Unsurprisingly, this isn’t the first time that Orion has poked fun at other franchises. Last month, the company released a poster which featured a murdered Woody (also from Toy Story), and around the same time, another promotional still showed Chucky holding a dismembered Easter Bunny, complete with a trail of blood and holiday candy.

Needless to say, it looks like the film’s creative team is having a bit of fun with their marketing, and we can only hope that this sense of humor carries over into the final product. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to find out, as Child’s Play is set to hit theaters on June 21st.
