Fortnite Season 9 Week 2 Challenges Are Now Live

Fortnite Season 9 has hit the ground running since launch earlier this month. Despite being only two weeks in, Epic has already made several widespread changes to Battle Island's geography, adding new locations like Neo Tilted - previously Tilted Towers - as well as hyper-futuristic Sky Platforms and Slip Streams. The latter, in particular, has shaken up the metagame massively by making map traversal swifter than ever before.

The future is now, then, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Epic is about ready to throw tradition out the window. As usual, every weekly reset brings with it a brand new set of challenges for fans of the battle royale to complete, all in the name of adding to their ever-growing stash of Battle Stars. New cosmetics aplenty are up for grabs, but you’ll, of course, be required to do some legwork in order to call them your own.

Having hit the two-week mark as of today, the latest batch of challenges are now available to complete, and you can check them out below.

Free Challenges

  • Launch off of Air Vents in different matches
  • Staged Challenge: land at different locations
  • Eliminate opponents in Sunny Steps or Shifty Shafts

Battle Pass Challenges

  • Deal damage with Pistols to opponents
  • Visit an oversized Phone, a big Piano and a giant Dancing Fish Trophy
  • Search a chest in different named locations in a single match
  • Staged Challenge: eliminate opponents from different distances

As per the usual formula, ticking off any five tasks will grant 5,000 XP towards your next tier of rewards, though that’s not all. First introduced in Season 9, new currency Fortbytes are obtainable via various different methods. Right now, but a fraction of the 100 total bytes Epic says will be up for grabs throughout the season are obtainable, though you can add one more to your collection this week by completing six or more of Week 2’s challenges.

As to what purpose they serve, nobody knows, though past comments imply that collecting them all will be integral to progressing future Fortnite Season 9 events. Stay tuned for more.
