If you’ll recall, the first trailer for 2017’s It was released in the March before the film’s September premiere, leading many to think that It: Chapter Two would’ve got the same treatment by now. However, we’re still without any footage to feast on, and while the wait to lay eyes on the sequel has been a long one, it appears that it’s almost over now.
Just last week, producer Barbara Muschietti promised that the first trailer was on the way and today, we can confirm that she wasn’t lying. Thanks to a billboard spotted in Times Square in New York City, it’s been revealed that the preview will float online this Thursday.
Exactly what it’ll show or how long it will run for remains unknown, but some footage from Pennywise’s next outing was recently screened for attendees at CinemaCon, with the studio giving them a scene where a grown up Beverly Marsh, played this time by Jessica Chastain, returns to Derry and relives her childhood trauma.
Of course, Chastain won’t be the only fresh face here, as the rest of the Losers Club has grown up as well and we’ll get to see James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough, Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom, Bill Hader as Richie Tozier, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon, James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak and Andy Bean as Stan Uris. One character who didn’t require a recasting, however, is Pennywise, who’ll be brought to life once more by Bill Skarsgård.
Moving forward a whole twenty-seven years to 2016, It: Chapter Two will find the killer clown return to terrorize a new generation of Derry children, and we’ll find out if the Losers Club can defeat the creature once and for all when the sequel drops on September 6th. In the meantime, look out for that trailer this Thursday and get ready to float again.
