First Action-Packed Clip From Batman Vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Debuts

If you were to ask me, 2019 is shaping up to be one heck of a year for DC animation. Already, we’ve been impressed by Reign of the Supermen and Justice League vs. The Fatal Five, with the long awaited Batman: Hush adaptation also set to arrive sometime this summer. Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, meanwhile, is scheduled for release in the fall, but I wouldn’t doubt if that gets pushed to 2020 so that it can coincide with Wonder Woman 1984‘s theatrical debut.

Much to my delight, a fifth offering was worked into the middle of that slate, as Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been confirmed for a late spring release. Not only is this making a fantasy many of us have been pondering since childhood a reality, but it should also satisfy fans of the comic book crossover which served as inspiration.

Seeing as how the flick’s arrival is just around the corner, Warner Bros. are doing their best to whet our appetites. In this case, it’s the first full clip from the film to have been revealed. Embedded at the top of this article, it shows the Heroes in a Half-shell taking down some members of the Foot Clan inside a lab of some sort – but it’s not like Barbara Gordon is someone who needs saving, anyway.

From the look of it, this scene is a flashback of sorts, as Batgirl is recounting the experience to Batman. Not only that, but she’s wearing her Burnside era costume, which is sure to excite fans who adore her more recent comic books. The Caped Crusader, meanwhile, should’ve donned some darker attire to match Troy Baker’s voice, but that’s just my opinion.

Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arrives on Blu-ray on June 4th, and stars the aforementioned Troy Baker as the voice of both Batman and the Joker, thus making Baker the first actor to ever play both roles in the same film. Opposite him are the Turtles themselves: Darren Criss as Raphael, Kyle Mooney as Michelangelo, Baron Vaughn as Donatello, and Eric Bauza as Leonardo. Jake Castorena directs a script from Marly Halpern-Graser.
