Not only has Avengers: Endgame enjoyed some phenomenal pre-sales in the last couple of weeks, but it’s also helped boost the sales of previous Marvel titles, as fans revisit the catalogue in preparation for next week’s release.
Ticket service Fandango has announced that their video streaming platform FandangoNOW has seen a nearly 50% increase in transactions for MCU movies since Endgame tickets went on sale on April 2nd. According to a survey conducted by the site, the top five films that fans are feeling the need to (re-)watch are Avengers: Infinity War, The Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Thor: Ragnarok.
From the look of things, some people might well have listened to the advice of Endgame co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who said that the two to check out before going into next week’s release are Infinity War and Civil War. While the former almost goes without saying, the Russos justified the latter by arguing that the events of Civil War were the reason why Earth’s Mightiest Heroes lost to Thanos in last year’s release.
That being said, the filmmakers are also encouraging fans via social media to marathon the entire catalogue, suggesting a new Marvel movie every day for their followers to watch. But however people are choosing to brush up on their MCU history, it’s clear that Fandango is reaping the benefits.
On top of that, the ticketing site has shared another enthusiastic update on their Avengers: Endgame pre-sales, which are apparently their best for any movie up to this point in the sales cycle. Meanwhile, the feature has already managed to beat the all-time pre-sales record on Atom Tickets, and is doing similarly well overseas. We’ll find out just how many more records the film can break when it arrives in theaters on April 26th.
