In a week that hasn’t lacked for new Avengers: Endgame promos and TV spots, Marvel has just released one more preview, which features some new footage of Hawkeye and Black Widow together.
“We’re in different circumstances,” says Clint Barton, as he stands alongside his old friend Natasha Romanoff. The statement probably goes without saying after Thanos wiped out half the universe in last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, though perhaps Hawkeye is also referencing his choice to go rogue in his new Ronin persona. Regardless, fans have already made it clear that they’re excited to have the pair back together, even if they have mixed feeling about Jeremy Renner’s new hairdo.
While next week’s release is widely predicted to see the departure of a few Phase 1 Avengers, Scarlett Johansson and Renner are each expected to reprise their roles for future outings. In the former’s case, you’ve got the long-awaited Black Widow solo movie, which is expected to be the first MCU release of 2020. Meanwhile, according to a recent report from Variety, Hawkeye will be the star of his own Disney Plus show.
Anyway, speaking of superhero pair-ups, the promo goes on to show the relatively new clip of War Machine startling Ant-Man with a dramatic landing. After trading blows in Captain America: Civil War, the two stars have shared more than one scene in the promotional footage, suggesting that the pair might be spending a fair amount of time together in the new film.
A recently released LEGO set even presents them as a duo, with Rhodey operating a giant Hulkbuster-style suit. Is War Machine going to use Scott Lang’s technology to grow his armor? We’ve yet to see the footage, but we’ll find out when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
