Marvel fans in North America have just thirteen days to go until the release of Avengers: Endgame, but for filmgoers in China, the wait is even shorter. The highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War sequel is scheduled for release on April 24th in the region, and so far, pre-sales have got off to a ridiculously strong start.

According to Maoyan Box Office System (via Deadline), Endgame managed to sell over 1 million tickets within the first six hours of pre-sales opening on Friday. This sets a new record in the Middle Kingdom, which has never seen another film reach 1 million tickets in such a short span of time. On top of that, Endgame sold more tickets in its first hour than Infinity War managed in its first 24. And in its first 3 hours, Endgame topped the pre-sales that Infinity War managed in its entire first week.

Seeing how Infinity War holds the all-time pre-sales record in China, with a total of $65 million, it feels like an understatement to say that this news bodes very well for Endgame’ performance in the region. Right now, the film is reportedly forecast to make at least $75 million in pre-sales, with some estimates going as high as $100 million.

As you’ve likely heard already, pre-sales have been going similarly well for Endgame in North America, where the movie has been doing record-breaking numbers on ticketing sites. Last week, Deadline reported that the flick has a good chance of grossing north of $260 million domestically in its first few days, and on a global level, the outlet has since claimed that the sequel is headed for an opening that’s “well above” $800 million. Not too shabby, but we’ll see if Avengers: Endgame can live up to these projections when it arrives in theaters on April 26th.
