Chris Hemsworth Hints At Thor Returning After Avengers: Endgame

While Thor is one of the longest-running heroes of the MCU, the God of Thunder was arguably a late bloomer compared to his peers Captain America and Iron Man. Specifically, many will tell you that it wasn’t until 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok that Chris Hemsworth’s character started living up to his potential as an entertaining lead. But with Avengers: Endgame just a couple of weeks away from release, it’s become a popular prediction that Thor is on the verge of dropping out of the franchise.

That being said, with Marvel staying so quiet on the future of the MCU, surely we can’t rule out the character staying on for another phase. In fact, in a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Hemsworth hinted that the hero may have more screen outings to come.

“Whether they go off and shoot other things or do prequels or sequels or whatever they can do… Loki, my brother’s come back nine times, three times he dies, so who knows what’s in store for anyone? Me personally, it’s the best fun I’ve ever had. And I’d be happy to do more if they wanted me. More than happy.”

Of course, given all the secrecy around the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, it would come as no surprise to find that Hemsworth is just trying to keep things ambiguous here. After all, both Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. have painted similar pictures of an uncertain future, but it’s widely assumed that one or both of them will be exiting with Endgame.

In the meantime, this month’s release is said to focus primarily on the original six Phase 1 Avengers. And while the film’s trailers and TV spots have been dominated by Iron Man and especially Captain America, Infinity War certainly left Thor with some unfinished business. Right now, a lot of fans are hoping that he’ll be the one to land the final blow on Thanos, succeeding where he famously failed in last year’s outing, but we’ll find out what’s really in store for the God of Thunder when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
