While Avengers: Endgame is set to pack more star power than just about any other film this year, a good proportion of those actors will be doing little to no press for this month’s release. That’s because about half of them are supposed to be dead after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, but at a recent Endgame press conference, Marvel still found a way to acknowledge the deceased.
The event started with a short introduction from executive producer and Happy Hogan actor Jon Favreau, who asked his audience to “please welcome the cast of Avengers: Endgame.” At this point, the curtain dropped to reveal the various Infinity War survivors sat amidst an assortment of empty seats. Favreau then explained the situation:
“Well, clearly things look a little different in a post Infinity War Marvel Cinematic Universe. Post Snap, there’s a few empty seats.”
Of course, while Marvel Studios is staying coy about the possibility of Thanos’ victims returning, it’s long been apparent that most, if not all, of the actors who would’ve occupied those empty seats will be showing up somewhere in Endgame.

For one thing, several late heroes have featured in set photos and behind-the-scenes material. On top of that, actors like Dave Bautista and Tom Holland have hinted previously at certain deceased characters getting some screen time. And then, of course, you’ve got the many future projects lined up for the Mad Titan’s victims, starting with this year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, and continuing with sequels for Doctor Strange and Black Panther, among others.
With all that in mind, the characters that fans should really be worried about are the ones played by the actors in attendance. In particular, it’s widely predicted that several of the Phase 1 heroes will be dropping out of the MCU with Avengers: Endgame, be it through retirement or death. In any case, we’ll find out who’s still around to see the end credits when the film hits theaters on April 26th.
