As the release of Avengers: Endgame looms closer, Marvel Studios is also gearing up for next year’s Black Widow, which is expected to shoot in London this June. Naturally, this means assembling a noteworthy cast, and THR has just reported an intriguing addition in David Harbour of Stranger Things fame.
The actor already dabbled in one major comic book universe with DC’s Suicide Squad, and next week, you’ll be able to see him assume the title role in the Hellboy reboot. What’s more, Harbour has just wrapped filming on action thriller Dhaka, which co-stars MCU regular Chris Hemsworth and was written by Endgame co-director Joe Russo.
Though details on Harbour’s Black Widow character remain under wraps, it’s expected that he’ll be in good company. Naturally, Scarlett Johansson will be reprising her role as the film’s titular heroine, while Lady Macbeth and Fighting with My Family star Florence Pugh will also be making her MCU debut.
While we’re still waiting for the rest of the cast to be announced, reports from last month indicated that Moonlight star André Holland and Emma Watson of Beauty and the Beast and Harry Potter fame were both gunning for roles. There was also some talk that Marvel is looking for actors in the vein of Rachel Weisz and Alec Baldwin for supporting parts. Meanwhile, the recent word is that Taskmaster is going to be the main villain of the film.
There’ll be plenty of time for confirmation on all these rumors before Black Widow completes its journey to theaters next year. In the meantime, you can catch Harbour in Hellboy, which comes out on April 12th, before Johansson returns to our screens on April 26th with the release of Avengers: Endgame.
