Even though I went into Legends of Tomorrow‘s midseason premiere with some skepticism because it was set to focus heavily on the romance involving Mona and her wolf-like boyfriend, I found myself walking away from it impressed. If anything, last night’s episode served up the right balance of humor and adventurism that’s made the show all the more enjoyable since its third season.
From the look of it, Mona will become a heavy presence in the series going forward – especially since she’s now of the lycanthropic persuasion herself. Whether or not her dual lifestyle proves permanent, expect to see more of Mona during April 15th’s episode, “Seance and Sensibility.”
Thanks to the freshly released gallery below, we’re granted new looks at various members of the cast, including favorites like John Constantine and Mick Rory. And from what we can tell, the female heroes of the Waverider crew find themselves in some sort of stage production, with Zari looking especially radiant as she may or may not be finding comfort in the arms of a man named Sunjay. Then again, he could just be her co-star in the play, as one would think a romance involving she and Nate could be on the horizon.
Getting back to Constantine and Rory, they’re expected to, as the official synopsis puts it, “perform a seance and receive a message from the other world that rocks Constantine to his core.” If I were to hazard a guess, this has something to do with John’s ex-boyfriend and/or the demonic Neron, the latter of which is assuming the visage of the former.

LOVE IS ALL AROUND — When Mona (Ramona Young) discovers that her favorite author, Jane Austen (guest star Jenna Rosenow), might be at the epicenter of a magical alert, Mona, Sara (Caity Lotz), Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) and Zari (Tala Ashe) find themselves in 1809. With Nate (Nick Zano) still dealing with family issues, Constantine (Matt Ryan) and Rory (Dominic Purcell) perform a séance and receive a message from the other world that rocks Constantine to his core. Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) and Nora (Courtney Ford) are forced into close quarters. Alexandra La Roche directed the episode written by Grainne Godfree & Jackie Canino (#411).
Legends of Tomorrow airs on Monday nights on The CW, with “Seance and Sensibility” set to debut on April 15th.
