For most of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, Bruce Banner’s big green alter ego refused to come out due to ongoing disagreements with his other half. In the upcoming Phase 3 finale, however, there’s barely a fan alive who doesn’t expect Hulk to show up once more, and in a new theory from ComicBook.com, a suggestion is offered for how this comeback might happen.

Earlier this month, a LEGO leak emerged showing Hulk and his peers engaged in battle with Thanos and his minions on the Avengers Compound, and while the tie-in toys often aren’t an accurate reflection of the film’s events, the new trailer also hints that the HQ might be under attack.

For one thing, you have the shot of Ant-Man standing in an office while an explosion possibly blooms behind him. In a later excerpt, we see the hero shrunk down and navigating a flame-filled environment that includes pencils and pens. Shots of Captain America and Nebula also seem to place the characters in the wreckage of a similar location, and in the trailer’s one shot of Bruce Banner, we see him standing in the compound.

From all this, we can gather that Bruce may be inside the base when it’s attacked, in which case, unlike his super-powered associates, he’ll be pretty much defenseless – unless, of course, he transforms. From here, the conclusion is drawn that the attack on the compound might cause Hulk’s survival instincts to kick in, pushing the character to put aside his issues and emerge once more in an effort to save Bruce, and by extension, himself.

It would certainly be a simpler way of bringing Hulk back into the action than any of the Professor Hulk theories that have been making the rounds lately, but we’ll find out if there’s any truth to the speculation when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
