With The Last Jedi proving to split the fanbase down the middle and Solo providing the Star Wars franchise with its first real flop, you’d be forgiven for being more than a bit concerned about the future of the space saga, but from everything we’ve been hearing so far, there’s good reason to believe that Star Wars: Episode IX is going to be something special.
Until we see some footage for ourselves, though, many will remain on the fence, but at the very least, we know that Disney is now gearing up to give us a look at the closing chapter in the Skywalker Saga. When it’ll arrive, we can’t yet say, but the studio showed off some Episode IX footage earlier today at a shareholders meeting, which means that the general public should be getting a glimpse of the highly anticipated sequel sooner rather than later.
As for what exactly was on display in the footage mentioned above, well, ComicBook.com reports that it was mostly behind the scenes stuff, though it did reveal Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian and a shot of Kylo Ren admiring Darth Vader’s helmet. We don’t have any other details beyond that to report on, but it’s certainly enough to pique our curiosity.
Still, none of this makes the wait to see some footage from Star Wars: Episode IX for ourselves any easier, and while last month’s announcement that principal photography had finally wrapped had fans thinking that the very first trailer might be imminent, Lucasfilm has yet to announce anything.
Regardless, with Star Wars Celebration quickly approaching, it’s looking increasingly likely that that will be where we get our first glimpse of the movie, and as soon as we can confirm that, we’ll be sure to let you know, so stay tuned.
