Alan Tudyk Teases Possible Return For K-2SO In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Prequel Series

Firefly star Alan Tudyk is really making his way through the franchises these days, between his cameo alongside Matt Damon in last year’s Deadpool 2 and his upcoming turns in DC shows Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn. The actor even has one Star Wars movie under his belt, having played K-2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and going by his recent comments to ComicBook.com, Tudyk’s droid character just might be making a return.

In Gareth Edwards’ 2016 film, K-2SO was a former Imperial enforcer droid who was reprogrammed by Rebel intelligence officer Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna. Clearly, K-2SO is a character with a past, and with Cassian set to get his own prequel series on Disney Plus, there’s certainly potential for the show to revisit the droid in his early, Imperial days. And while Tudyk isn’t offering any confirmation on whether or not he’s involved in the series, it’s clear that the actor is at least being kept in the loop.

“It’s a prequel, so it is a prequel. I love those guys, I do. I love those guys,” Tudyk told ComicBook.com. “Diego Luna is one of my favorite people on the planet. I know what they’re doing, and it’s very exciting. We talked about it.”

So far, details on the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel series are in short supply, though a report from last month alleged that filming on the spy thriller will commence on October 28th, 2019, before wrapping on June 17th, 2020. Of course, such plans are subject to change, but it sounds like the show is aiming for a late-2020 release.

In the meantime, we’re still in the early months of what’s set to be a busy year for the franchise, with Star Wars: Episode IX hitting theaters on December 20th, 2019, though not before The Mandalorian premieres as one of the first new shows on Disney Plus.
