Charlie Cox Hopes There’s A Way He Can Return As Daredevil

With the cancellation of three out of five shows, it's looking like the Netflix corner of the MCU is about to come to an end. For some of the stars, this is just part of the industry and they've already accepted the situation. For instance, The Punisher's Jon Bernthal says he's at peace with whatever happens, while Luke Cage's Mike Colter has said much the same. Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox, however, is still hoping there's a way he can suit up as the Man Without Fear again.

Daredevil Cancelled

With the cancellation of three out of five shows, it’s looking like the Netflix corner of the MCU is about to come to an end. For some of the stars, this is just part of the industry and they’ve already accepted the situation. For instance, The Punisher‘s Jon Bernthal says he’s at peace with whatever happens, while Luke Cage‘s Mike Colter has said much the same. Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox, however, is still hoping there’s a way he can suit up as the Man Without Fear again.

Cox spoke to The Playlist recently about the fan petition to #SaveDaredevil, as the trending Twitter topic has it, and how it’s reached 200,000 signatures and counting. It turns out that the actor’s name is among them, too. This led Cox to explain that he’d love there to be a way to continue making the series, though he knows not to get his hopes up.

“I hope that maybe something can happen in the future that might allow us to continue to make the show. But you can’t hang your hat on that because you just don’t know.”

The interviewer then suggested that, even if Daredevil isn’t renewed, maybe he could jump over into the movies to team up with Spider-Man. Fans will know that this is something Cox has wanted to happen since forever, so he naturally hopped on that idea again. But the important thing for the star seems to be wearing the horned helmet again in any capacity.

“Dude, I’d like anything. In the comic books, there are some fantastic Spider-Man/Daredevil storylines. The bottom line is I just absolutely love the show. I love playing the character. It’s still a bit weird to me that I’m not playing the character anymore. It’s kind of impossible for me to really imagine that [a Spider-Man/Daredevil team-up] because it’s been such a long period of my life.”

Cox finished by coming clean and saying Daredevil is his “dream job” and, whatever Marvel want to do next with the character, he wants to be a part of it.

“It’s such a dream job for me, it’s been such a wonderful experience, that any scenario where I get to continue playing the character, whether it be on a different series, or whether it be in the movies, would be fantastic. I can only hope. It’s almost like I can’t think about it because I don’t wanna get my hopes up.”

Charlie Cox’s genuine passion for the hero makes it even more upsetting that Daredevil has been cut down in its prime. Reports about Disney being uninterested in renewing the Netflix shows don’t fill us with hope, either, but if there’s any justice, the actor will still get to play Matt Murdock again in some form.
