First Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer Debuted At CCXP, Here’s What It Showed

As expected, Sony debuted the first Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer today at CCXP, and though it's not online just yet, we do know what it showed.

It’s been a pretty wild week for Marvel fans, what with new trailers for both Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame arriving over the past few days. But just in case that wasn’t enough, Sony also brought the goods to CCXP with their presentation for Spider-Man: Far From Home.

With both Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal in attendance, a lot of new information about the much anticipated sequel spilled out (which we’ll have for you soon), but perhaps the biggest thing to emerge from the convention was the first trailer for the film. Although, ’emerge’ may not be the best word, as it hasn’t actually made its way online yet, with Sony choosing to instead keep it as an exclusive for those who made the trip down to Brazil to catch it.

It’s expected to swing onto the web in the next few days but until then, we do have a few reports on what it showed, with folks on Twitter sharing the following:

In addition to those descriptions above, MCU Exchange also relayed the following information:

According to our writer Tiago, the trailer opens with Spider-Man in an event in some gym announcing something to a crowd. He heads backstage and sees Aunt May there. They have a fun sweet moment until Happy Hogan shows up. Happy compliments May’s clothes and there’s some chemistry. Peter reacts the way you’d expect to it and says, “What was that?!” We then cut to him mentioning a European school trip. He gets his passport but leaves his suit behind. You see shots of Venice and London. In his hotel, Nick Fury shows up and hits Ned with a sleeping dart. “I finally meet you, Spider-Man,” he says. Images of Spidey’s new suits are showcased.

A big part of the trailer was the appearance of what Tiago described to be giant-sized elemental creatures. A giant made out of sand shows up in one of the cities, followed by a creature made out of fire. They reveal Mysterio without the helmet, looking badass with his hands emitting green smoke. In Venice, a massive water giant shows and in comes Mysterio, complete with the glorious fishbowl helmet. They reveal the title card after which they show a scene of Flash making fun of Peter.

It’s unclear if what’s described here is the extent of the trailer or if there was more shown, but just from these outlines alone we can learn a lot – including how Nick Fury factors into things, that Mysterio won’t be the only villain (as was expected) and the fact that May and Happy are now an item.

Of course, perhaps the most interesting takeaway here is the fact that the preview won’t acknowledge Infinity War or Endgame. That doesn’t mean the film itself won’t nod to or reference those two MCU entries, but it seems that for the marketing campaign, they’ll skip over dealing with the events of the two aforementioned movies so as to avoid spoilers.

With the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home expected to be in theaters with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse this coming Friday, that means it should be online within the next few days, and as soon as it’s available, we’ll certainly let you know.
