Tonight brings us the first part of the three-night “Elseworlds” event that’ll unite the heroes of the Arrowverse once more for another thrilling crossover. And now, to get us all hyped, The CW’s released a minute-long featurette which takes us behind the scenes of the making of “Elseworlds” and features the stars of the crossover letting us know why we should be excited for it.
The event kicks off with Barry Allen and Oliver Queen finding themselves living each other’s lives in a bizarre Freaky Friday-like identity swap. From there, the pair join up with their old pal Supergirl and are whisked off on a multiversal adventure that includes the return of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman and the debut of not just Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane but also Ruby Rose as Batwoman, who – as the actress reminds us in the featurette – has never appeared in live-action before.
Stephen Amell definitely gave it his stamp of approval, too, when he named his time filming “Elseworlds” as the most fun he’s ever had in the Arrowverse – and he’s been playing the Emerald Archer for a whole seven years now, so that’s really saying something. Clearly, though, he’s not the only one who had a blast. Grant Gustin has also come clean and said that he totally lost it when shooting scenes with Superman and Melissa Benoist says in the featurette that crossovers are just the best.
And we haven’t even mentioned the much-anticipated return of John Wesley Shipp as the original 1990s Flash. Plus, an evil Superman doppelganger, complete in black suit (see, it’s not that hard, Justice League!) as well as LaMonica Garrett’s The Monitor, a cosmic character who opens up all sorts of potential for future events.
Don’t miss “Elseworlds” when it kicks off later tonight with The Flash, followed on successive nights by Arrow and Supergirl.
