With the “Elseworlds” crossover being less than a week away from kicking off, The CW sure aren’t taking it for granted that everyone out there’s going to tune in. Just the other night, we were pleasantly surprised by an ominous prologue for the event during the closing moments of Supergirl, depicting the Monitor seemingly laying waste to Earth-90.
This time, though, the latest treat comes in the form of a new promo, which uses a mix of footage we’ve already seen along with some fresh material to tease a warped reality where, among other things, Barry Allen is Green Arrow and Oliver Queen’s The Flash. Presumably, both heroes will feel like a fish out of water when finding themselves transplanted into the other’s life. It doesn’t look like Amell will just be doing a Grant Gustin impression, or vice versa, either.
At least, we sure hope not, as that could go one of two ways: Very well (remember Tom Welling and John Glover trading places during Smallville‘s “Transference” episode) or very wrong (Victor Garber and Franz Drameh did something similar on Legends of Tomorrow).
Of course, there’s a lot more to look forward to in “Elseworlds” aside from the body swaps, as Ruby Rose will make her debut as the first ever live action iteration of Batwoman, Tyler Hoechlin’s returning as Superman – and in a black costume, no less, and John Wesley Shipp is back as 90s Flash.

EPIC ELSEWORLDS CROSSOVER KICKS OFF TONIGHT — When Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Oliver Queen (guest star Stephen Amell) wake up one morning and realize they have swapped bodies with each other, the two set off to find out what disturbed the timeline to cause such a shift. However, things quickly go from bad to worse when they present their case to Team Flash and the gang doesn’t believe them. Barry and Oliver realize they need Supergirl’s (guest star Melissa Benoist) help and travel to Smallville on Earth-38 where they end up meeting Kara’s cousin, Clark Kent (guest star Tyler Hoechlin), and intrepid reporter, Lois Lane (guest star Elizabeth Tulloch). LaMonica Garrett guest stars as The Monitor. Kevin Tancharoen directed the episode written by Eric Wallace & Sam Chalsen.
“Elseworlds” gets underway on Sunday, December 9 with The Flash, continues on Monday, December 10 with Arrow, and wraps up on Tuesday, December 11 with Supergirl.
