Rarely, if ever, has more fuss been made over the mere release date of a movie’s trailer than in the hype surrounding the first batch of footage for Avengers 4. The simple matter of when this teaser will be arriving has been the subject of an increasingly intense wave of speculation and alleged intel, and many fans are starting to lose their patience with Marvel Studios. Nonetheless, the company’s own co-president is giving nothing away.
In the wake of the first teaser for Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King dropping last week, one fan took to Twitter to ask Louis D’Esposito if the Avengers: Infinity War sequel will be getting the same treatment in the next week or two, to which the producer responded:
“Are you trying to trick me into telling you when A4 teaser trailer will be released. I know the date and want to reveal it, but I can’t. Be patient”
Well, at least we now know for sure that this trailer actually has a release date, despite Marvel Studios’ ongoing silence on the subject.
Much like the film’s long-awaited title reveal, Marvel has been holding back the teaser for a lengthier period than most of us anticipated. Just a couple of weeks ago, much of the internet seemed so sure that the footage would be coming our way by the end of the month, but while a lot of fans are still clinging to the hope that the trailer will be making its premiere as soon as November 28th, others are now viewing a December date as more realistic at this stage.
It’s going to be a big day for the internet when the Avengers 4 trailer finally comes our way, and a moment of great relief for countless fans, too. After that, the next big reveal just might be the release of the film itself, which is set to hit theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
