Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has been known to post the occasional workout video that demonstrates how the Australian star maintains a physique worthy of the God of Thunder. But in a clip shared via Brie Larson’s Twitter account over the weekend, the Captain Marvel lead threw down the gauntlet while bringing down the hammer, goading the man known for wielding Mjolnir with a display of prowess handling a similar tool.
In the caption for this short video, the actress mentions the 16-pound mass of the sledgehammer she uses, before cheekily tagging Hemsworth. While we’ve yet to see Carol Danvers share the screen with Thor, it seems that a friendly rivalry could already be brewing between this pair.

Larson has previously spoken of the trials she had to put her body through when she assumed the role of the MCU’s most powerful hero, saying that the physical strength she found in herself caused her to reconsider her own potential:
“My highest right now is 215 lbs. in deadlifts. 400 lb. hip thrusts, being able to lift weight like that really changed my perspective and understanding of myself. Going through a movie that requires so much and takes this long, I’m realizing I’m way stronger than I knew.”
The Oscar-winner also mentioned earlier this year that she had some hesitations about assuming the role of Captain Marvel, fearing the impact that such a time-consuming, high-profile gig could have on the people closest to her. After thinking it through, however, the star eventually decided to put “both feet in,” and says that she’s “really happy” about the commitment she made.
With the movie now slightly over three months away from arriving in theaters, the marketing for Carol Danvers’ big screen debut is beginning to step up a notch, with various promo art recently making the rounds. The fans have also started to speculate on when the film’s next trailer could be arriving, but whatever fresh material is headed our way in the coming months, all will be revealed when Captain Marvel comes out on March 8th, 2019.
