As 2018 approaches its final stretch, Marvel Studios has yet to unveil so much as a release date for that all-important first trailer for Avengers 4, and it’s evident that the fans are starting to panic, concocting some delightfully eccentric theories in their search for teaser-related answers.
Just take this new piece of speculation, which suggests that the trailer release will be the eventual result of an elaborate plan that Disney was laying the groundwork for back when Avengers: Infinity War was still being shot. And as with so many Avengers 4 theories, this one brings us back to Stephen Strange’s line about 14,000,605 possible futures.
It seems that one Reddit user had the imagination to suggest that this number relates to the official “Avengers: Untitled” countdown clock, which is currently viewable on the official Marvel website. According to this theory, the trailer’s scheduled to drop once the clock goes down to 140 days, which will happen on Thursday, December 13th. To back up this claim, it’s been pointed out that this happens to be on the week that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters, meaning that the teaser will arrive just in time to accompany Miles Morales’ big screen debut. That’s right, even the release date of a Sony movie has been incorporated into Disney’s plan.
Yikes, is this how bad things have got? At this rate, Marvel Studios better share that trailer real soon before we really go off the deep end.
As it stands, the most we’ve had confirmed from Kevin Feige is that we’ll be getting some footage before the end of the year, but it’s an overwhelmingly popular prediction on the internet that it’ll be arriving this month. That remains to be see, of course, but one date that still seems firmly in place is the release of Avengers 4 on May 3rd, 2019.
