In the midst of all the hoopla surrounding Disney’s acquisition of Fox, one could say the biggest talking point in the geek community concerning this has to be the eventuality of when the X-Men will be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, we can’t nail down a date of when this’ll happen, but it’s sure to occur at some point.
That said, True Believers are no doubt fantasizing about what it’ll look like when someone such as Wolverine gets to team up with Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man and various other favorites. Granted, this is something we’ve seen countless times in comic books and animation, but it’s new territory for live action cinema.
And so, giving us a possible glimpse into the future is that of character artist Tyler Breon, who managed to whip up a pretty savage rendition depicting how Logan could appear in the MCU. Seen below, the concept art paints a picture of everything this longtime fan of the mutant could hope for.
What’s also “new” about this is that Wolvie can be glimpsed in attire similar to what readers of comics would expect. Oddly enough, Hugh Jackman didn’t suit up in any such gear during even one of the many movies in which he played the icon, so this is a box Hollywood still needs to check off.
Speaking of Jackman, he recently touched on the inevitability of having to pass the torch in an interview, saying:
“Oh, Wolverine will be back. Someone’s going to buy him, I don’t know.”
By that, Hugh meant another actor will portray the character the next time we see him on film. In fact, there’s a sense of simplicity to this Disney-Fox jazz because there’s no need for a convoluted way to explain someone else playing Wolverine after Jackman’s iteration met his demise. Really, all we must do is accept that the next guy exists in a different universe altogether and the rest is easy.
