Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was just announced to be getting a seventh season, but before that happens we’ve still got season 6 to look forward to this coming summer. Filming began back in July and finally, we’ve now got our first official glimpse at the new look that one of the gang will be sporting in the next run: Chloe Bennet’s Daisy “Quake” Johnson.
The actress took to social media to share two promo shots of herself as Quake, complete with a new blonde ‘do and revamped costume – notice the use of the gauntlets which help her control her powers. That suggests the recent upgrade she got from the Centipede Serum will leave her needing to get the hang of her increased abilities.
“New exclusive Quake look,” she said in her caption, “Come at me bad guys.”
Initially, we thought that season 6 would be the Marvel show’s last, as it was given a reduced episode count and moved to a summer time slot. However, recent info has revealed that, though S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s ratings have always been rather unspectacular, it has a popular shelf-life on Netflix where it outranks even the streaming service’s own superhero efforts like Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Overall, it’s the most popular Marvel series there is. When put like that, it makes sense that ABC would keep it going for at least another season.
Things could be very different when the show returns, though. The season 5 finale saw the team down a couple of members, as the future Fitz died and Phil Coulson went off to Tahiti to live out the rest of his life in peace. Who knows whether Clark Gregg’s fan favorite will make a comeback – though the fact that he’s directing the season 6 premiere tells us something – but it looks like the quest to find the younger Fitz in space could be the backbone of the new run.
There’s still a long wait until Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6 arrives in July 2019, but at least we know it’s here to stay for a good while yet.
