Aside from the oncoming launch of Avengers 4‘s inaugural teaser, November 2018 will be the first month since June 2017 that Marvel hasn’t released any new movie or TV content – no Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., no Netflix series… nada.
So whereas recent months have been dominated by the likes of Daredevil season 3, Iron Fist and Ant-Man and the Wasp, the next four weeks marks a surprising dry spell for the media powerhouse, and it won’t be until the second season of Runaways hits ABC in December that the Marvel assembly line will be back in rotation.
Now that we’re complaining, really, as a four-week lull will only build excitement for all of the major projects yet to come, including Captain Marvel and the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4. Word is the latter tentpole will enjoy its time in the limelight later this month, when Marvel Studios will seemingly peel back the curtain on both the name and trailer of its 2019 crossover.
And here’s a brief history lesson of Marvel’s 16-month streak, stretching all the way back to the summer of 2017:
July 2017: Spider-Man: Homecoming
August 2017: The Defenders
September 2017: Inhumans
October 2017: Inhumans
November 2017: Thor: Ragnarok, The Punisher, Inhumans
December 2017: Runaways, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
January 2018: Runaways, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
February 2018: Black Panther, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
February 2018 proved to be an Earth-shaking month for everyone at Marvel Studios, given Ryan Coogler’s standalone Black Panther movie proudly etched its name into the history books (“Wakanda forever!”), before the pendulum swung back to Marvel television where viewers were enjoying Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
And here’s the remainder of that month-by-month breakdown, courtesy of Reddit:
March 2018: Jessica Jones, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
April 2018: Avengers: Infinity War, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
May 2018: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
June 2018: Luke Cage, Cloak and Dagger
July 2018: Ant-Man and the Wasp, Cloak and Dagger
August 2018: Cloak and Dagger
September 2018: Iron Fist
October 2018: Daredevil
On the Marvel movies front, Captain Marvel will be next to tumble off the production line come 2019, when the world will be introduced to the MCU’s strongest ever character. Now that’s exciting…
