If Avengers 4 really is Iron Man’s final outing in the MCU, then you best hope he goes out in style, and with this new design from the Instagram of Lordtectonic, we now have a pretty sweet suggestion for how this franchise-founding Avenger could do just that.
In the accompanying text, the artist says that they took inspiration from the recently leaked promo art showing Rocket and Thor in some shiny new battle armor. Here, Robert Downey Jr.’s character is seen in a white suit with a black mask and glowing red eyes. That would all seem threatening enough even without the massive Stark Industries cannon on his arm. That thing’s looking so big that you almost expect Iron Man to tip over from the weight.
While this image is pure fan fantasy, we do have some leaked concept art to suggest that Tony Stark will be donning at least one new set of armor. Suggestions for what sort of outfit these new pics could be showing have ranged from Stark’s classic red and gold outfit, to a suit for journeying into the Quantum Realm.
The Thor and Rocket photo, meanwhile, has spawned at least as much speculation, not just from the pair’s new suits, but also from the accompanying text’s suggestion of “new foes” and “an even greater threat.” Seeing how the main antagonist of Avengers: Infinity War was a genocidal tyrant who could turn half the universe’s population into dust with the mere snap of his fingers, it’s hard to see what could qualify as a bigger danger, but recent theories are suggesting a powerful new ally for Thanos.
In any case, we’ll see if Tony Stark has the right gear to take on whatever storm is coming his way when Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
