As the internet grows more and more anxious to see the long-awaited first trailer for Avengers 4, we’re getting a significant increase in the number of rumors and theories making the rounds online about when the footage may be arriving and what revelations it could contain.
In line with this trend, it was reported just yesterday by a tipster on Twitter that not only is the fabled teaser imminent, but that this promo is being prepared for IMAX showings. Unfortunately, we’re now hearing from a pretty reliable source that, at very least, the second of those two claims isn’t true – the source in question being, well, IMAX.
Perhaps this isn’t the news you want to hear, but honesty, after months of near-silence from Disney, it’s refreshing to see another company step in and offer a definitive response to a current rumor, even if that response is a blunt ‘no.’ To be fair, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has said that the trailer will be dropping “towards the end of the year,” which places this promo’s release date some time in the next couple months or so. More specifically, the first teaser for Avengers: Infinity War came out near the end of November, so perhaps it wouldn’t be far off to guess a similar time for the sequel.
Whenever this footage does arrives, there’s a good chance that the official title for Avengers 4 will be revealed simultaneously, finally putting fans out of their misery after what’s felt like an eternity of speculation. After that, it’s likely that the biggest questions left to be answered will be saved for the film itself, which hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
