Sources Say Ben Affleck’s Talking With WB About Playing Batman Again

According to sources close to the actor, Ben Affleck's talking with Warner Bros. about playing Batman one final time in Matt Reeves' upcoming film.

As you’ve surely heard by now, Ben Affleck recently took a break from rehab treatment to meet with Warner Bros. – presumably to discuss his future (or lack thereof) within the rebranded Worlds of DC.

From what we understand, the actor swung by a studio meeting on the Warner Bros. lot late last week. Further details weren’t disclosed, but that hasn’t curbed the flood of rumors relating to The Batman and Ben Affleck’s potential role in it.

Last time he suited up as Gotham’s Dark Knight, the box office numbers were… unfavorable. Indeed, Justice League was criticized for its overstuffed plot and substandard CGI, but it seems that Affleck isn’t done with the Dark Knight just yet. In fact, those close to him say that the actor’s hoping to suit up one more time.

“He is back in shape not only for his health but he has a new-found love on doing Batman at least one more time again,” a source told Hollywood Life. “He feels he isn’t finished with what he wants to do with the character. There has been talk about replacing him, but he is now seeing what he might lose and really wants to play the character again. Especially seeing what Joaquin Phoenix is doing with the Joker character.”

Apparently, Affleck’s currently talking with Warner Bros. as the two try to figure out a way to make this happen. What’s also interesting to note is that the Good Will Hunting star really wants to work with Joaquin Phoenix, who’s currently shooting the Joker origin movie under the direction of Todd Phillips, with Martin Scorsese on board as producer.

Could Affleck’s Batman somehow factor into that project? Or might Phoenix’s Clown Prince of Crime show up in a future DC film alongside the Caped Crusader? So many questions, so few answers. But for now, fans can at least take comfort in the fact that if these sources are to be believed, Big Ben’s not ready to hang up the cape and cowl just yet.
