As you may have noticed, Sector 2814 is home to more ringslingers than most others, for Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz are all able to proudly call themselves members of the Green Lantern Corps. And when it came to speculating which of those would headline the upcoming film, it was understandable that each had a generous amount of fans backing them.
Fortunately, we got confirmation on Hal and John a few months back when Geoff Johns was announced as screenwriter on the project, though it’s hard to rule out any other Earthlings coming along for the ride. We may still see the likes of Kilowog and Mogo, sure, but it’s much easier on the post-production team if we pile on more humans.
Speaking of which, Johns’ own Mad Ghost Productions has updated its website with images accompanying the various films it’ll be involved in, chief among which was Green Lantern Corps. And though it still bears the tagline of “Once (sic) of DC Comics’ greatest Super Hero universes, the film will feature Hal Jordan and John Stewart…,” the image next to it shows Guy Gardner alongside Hal and John, and can be seen below.
Of course, the people in charge of the site could’ve grabbed any piece of comic book art available to insert, but you have to admit this gives Guy’s fans a reason to smile. And if indeed he does show up, it’d be easy to see him as being a pain in the ass for his allies. If you’re unfamiliar, just know that Mr. Gardner’s personality can take some getting used to.
As usual, it’s encouraged that you keep watching this space as more news pertaining to Green Lantern Corps develops. Seeing as how Johns is intimately involved, the picture has the potential to be something truly special, as I’m in agreement with those who believe his nine-year run on Green Lantern comics to be the best ever.
