Unfortunately, Kevin Feige’s a man of his word. You might recall that prior to San Diego Comic-Con, a “short promo” for Captain Marvel was rumored to be working through the “Disney marketing machine” which, naturally, led to speculation that the teaser would premiere at the “largest convention of its kind in the world.” Sadly, the Marvel Studios president stated, ”I think there’s still a few months on it” and, sure enough, SDCC came and went with no puffery to speak of.
Thankfully, though, minutiae regarding the Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck-directed film has been picking up steam as of late, keeping the more restlessly eager of the moviegoing public pacified. Not to mention, the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut for Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) wrapped production last month and, as a result, we may have just gotten wind of the first significant change Captain Marvel will make to the comic book character.
If you’re an aficionado of Carol, you’ll know she’s a huge fan of Star Wars. So much so, in fact, that she named her cat Chewie after everybody’s favorite Wookie, Chewbacca. Well, according to some new merchandise, it’s entirely possible the Powers That Be have decided the change the name of the cat to Goose.
Fun day @Marvel Can we talk about how excited I am for CAPTAIN MARVEL??? Can March be here already??? #captainmarvel pic.twitter.com/2B3j5jezyY

Ashely Eckstein of Her Universe posted some photos – which you can check out above – from her visit to Marvel Studios last week, and in one of the snapshots, a cat’s name tag is shown with the name Goose on it instead of Chewie, leading Jeremy Conrad of MCU Cosmic to believe that they’ve indeed changed the name.
Granted, this isn’t exactly a perspective-shattering revelation, but, at the very least, it does serve as evidence that the studio isn’t afraid to make a change or two. Therefore, once Captain Marvel‘s released – March 8th, 2019 – we could be looking at a very different character than what’s depicted in the comic books.
